Over the next 20 years we are looking to continue to transform Gateshead.  We have a huge amount of potential in terms of our regeneration and development plans, but we are also aware of the need to develop a very different approach if we are to truly meet the challenges ahead and respond to the fast-changing needs of our communities and businesses.

In essence - we need to become more responsive, proactive and flexible – and ‘business as usual’ simply won’t cut it anymore.  That is why we have introduced a new senior management structure, but more importantly a new culture based upon our Thrive agenda which focuses on delivery and outcomes – to the direct benefit of our residents.  A vital part of our transformation journey is the recruitment of a Service Director – Housing, Compliance and Traded Services who will play a crucial role in the council’s next chapter.

Housing is an important area for Gateshead, with its contribution to so many wider determinates of health and well-being.  This is a new role that will work closely with our ALMO and lead on the delivery of all housing management, strategy and compliance, as well as neighbourhood services and traded services.  You will most likely have senior housing, commercial or neighbourhood services experience, but what will be vital will be your flexible and determined leadership, creativity and collaborative approach as we determine the best way to deliver a great service for our residents.
